Why Politics And Corruption Goes Hand In Hand

“With great power comes great responsibility,” said Spidey. His character may be fictional, but boy he got this one right. You can never fully comprehend how power can get you blinded and mess up your perspectives in life until you are the one in power yourself. Most of the time, these are politicians elected into office by the public through the election process. These political leaders are supposed to protect the people, uphold the common good and manage the affairs of the state in an orderly and fair manner. If only that is always the case.

It is a sad thing to realize that the leaders who you thought will protect your rights and do their job right have other things in mind. Graft and corruption cases are increasingly becoming common because these elected leaders get blinded by the greed for money and power. Only a handful of the elected leaders today really have the best interests of their constituents at heart. Most of them only want to fatten their wallets and bank accounts while still in office. read more

More Terror Attacks In Europe

It was supposed to be a fun night full of music and adoration for a celebrity you have always dreamed of seeing in person, for real. The music is good and the venue is jam-packed. The show has ended and everyone is readying to leave when BANG, a loud explosion fills the place. Then, panic sets in and everyone else scrambles to leave. Sounds like a movie plot, but no, it’s real life.

Terrorists strike in strategic places to capture the attention of the world. They thrive on people’s fear and anger and will likely strike back once the public’s attention has shifted to more trivial things, and away from important societal rights. Over the past decade, we have witnessed increased terrorist activity all over the globe. Despite the focus of many groups, including the European Rail Congress, these terrorists thrive when they are in the spotlight. And once we panic, it means that they have achieved their purpose. read more

Terror On The Web

The Internet is a delight to many. There are just so many things to do on the web that it rendered the word “boredom” obsolete. Tell me can you ever feel bored surfing the web, browsing through social media, or uncovering all the things you can do online. Probably not. With 24/7 access to the web, you can stay up all-day and all-night without ever running out of things to do.

Millions, or even billions, of people, go online daily, not only individuals but even big corporations and the government too. And as such, the potential is likewise limitless for cyber criminals who want nothing but to sow fear and confusion in the hearts and minds of online users while at the same time making money from their digital crimes. The web is indeed not a safe place at all both for the young and old alike. read more

Platonic Parents On The Rise

Back then, divorce was a taboo. Families rarely talked about marital disputes that ended marriages and left children broken too. Fast-forward today, divorce is quite common and people are no longer embarrassed to admit to the world that they made a mistake and their marriage is over. For many of these bickering couples, it is better to be lonesome and single once more than being trapped in a loveless and toxic relationship. It’s bad for the kids too to see their parents quarrel all the time. If you failed to see it from that angle.

If there is anything good that comes out of this situation, it’s of mothers and fathers banding together for the sake of their kids. The term “platonic parents” became a thing and in a way, children still have both their parents to love and care for them minus the negative energy that always follows before when they were still constantly fighting one another. read more

On Budget Cuts And Student Rights

Students have rights too. Even if they aren’t actively contributing to the country’s economy just yet, they have a right to a good education provided by the state, if possible. After all, the youth is the future of any nation. To make sure they are well-equipped with the knowledge, skills, and attitude they need to succeed in life and make good life choices, later on, a good education is crucial and can make or break their ultimate fate.

While students have inherent rights that are upheld by the constitution, schools and various educational institutions implement their own sets of policies that may or many not always align with a student’s rights. There are likewise instances when government officials subtly try to curtail these rights that they deem aren’t in the best interest of the nation. It’s a complicated topic, indeed, and has not only sparked countless debates but ongoing protest as well. read more

Multimedia Calls For Digital Creativity

Technology rules the world these days. Everywhere you look, there surely is a tech gadget that dominates that aspect of life. While we revel on the comfort and convenience many of these tech advancements give us, they may have some unwanted flaws we aren’t so thrilled about. But still, we continue to support and patronize these advancements because they make the world go round today.

A popular aspect of technology almost everyone can relate to is multimedia and for good reason too considering they are the most entertaining of all. And over the years, multimedia has shown what and how much we have accomplished in the field, from old-school multi-media presentations, projectors and photography, and now interactive multimedia. It is the creative expression of the digital technology that almost all enterprises and institutions use today. read more

Tricks To Understanding Smarter Computers

We live in a day and age when everything else is smart except perhaps the person sitting next to you. But kidding aside, smart technology probably defines the era we now live in. Can you imagine living without all the modern conveniences you have today? Over the years, technology gradually improved to the point that is has become smart itself. While it offers a lot of benefits, it also has its drawbacks.

Perhaps the next big thing to hit the virtual world after the smart technology is the rise of artificial intelligence. We see it now with technologies like Amazon’s Alexa and Echo. They may not be able to think for themselves yet but they give us an idea of what to expect in the future. It’s probably something like that but 10, 20, 30 to 100 times better than the existing AI technology we currently have. read more

Lack Of Sleep Can Kill

January 4, Reno Gazette Journal, Reno, NV: Hug High Student Killed in Crash… “Tria Cornejo and Nito Ramirez were best friends …. Arizona authorities are trying to determine whether Ramirez, 17, a Hug High football player, will be prosecuted for losing control of his classmate’s car. Cornejo, a 19-year-old Hug senior, died when the car left the highway at the Nevada-Arizona border near Bullhead City, Arizona.losck

“Cornejo was asleep while Ramirez was driving. Police say Ramirez became drowsy and fell asleep behind the wheel … He is believed to have lost control of the car and crashed….”

Snoozing and cruising don’t mix. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that more than 200,000 crashes are related to driving while drowsy. A large percentage of highway crashes involve driver fatigue.

Sleepiness and sleep deprivation are major concerns, especially for teens. Sleepiness not only can mean dozing off in class and missing an important point for the next test, but it also can mean dozing off behind the wheel and causing loss of life.

Specific sleep problems may first appear during the teen years. Identifying teens with actual sleep disorders, however, can be a problem because teenagers are known to be, well, sleepy. It becomes difficult to separate the people who have a genuine sleep disorder from those who are sleep-deprived because of lifestyle choices.

“It’s a problem we see a lot,” says Dr. Greg Marcus of Hypnoresearch.org, a research site for using hypnosis to cure ailments. “This is a difficulty that many Americans face, no matter their age.”

It has been proven that the average teen needs eight to 10 hours of sleep – and yet, you have to get up earlier for school, have more responsibilities, and probably stay up late at night. And for the first time in your life, you may have problems going to sleep or rising early.

Narcolepsy, delayed sleep phase syndrome, and restless leg syndrome often begin during teen years. Add this to the emotional ups and downs that occur naturally at this time of your life – leaving you even more prone to daytime sleepiness and sleep deprivation.

Developing sleep smarts is not only important for your future lifestyle, it is important right now. Studies have shown that students who sleep more at night do in fact have higher grades and less daytime sleepiness.

The Sleep Robbers

Insomnia occurs when people have a difficult time falling and/or staying asleep. A sleep history may reveal the cause. illness, drugs, stress, depression, noise, pain, breathing disorder, anxiety, etc. But sometimes the cause is not known. Treatments will vary, depending on the cause. Insomnia produces symptoms of sleep deprivation.

Sleep Apnea.
A person with sleep apnea stops breathing for short periods of time during sleep. Symptoms include a lot of daytime sleepiness and loud snoring. Being overweight or having a palate that blocks the airway may cause this potentially serious disorder. In some cases, corrective surgery and weight loss may help. Also, a site like The Snoring Mouthpiece Review can also save you a lot of time and trouble. The site’s Good Morning Snore Solution reviews are outstanding, to say the least.

How can you cope? You can begin by accepting the fact that it is normal for most teens to need eight to 10 hours of sleep every night. Once you know what you need, change your lifestyle to get the sleep that you need. This may mean some big compromises, but in the long run they will produce rewards.

Banks Get Free Money, Provide No Business Loans

bgfmWITH $1 MILLION OF EQUITY IN HER BUSINESS AND THE prospect of a 67 percent boost in revenues this year from 1993’s $600,000, Margaret Byrne Heimbold thought she’d be a good candidate for a $1 million bank expansion loan. She learned differently.

“The banks have come to see me, but they’re not interested in the size of the deal,” says the owner and publisher of Audiard.net, a regional blog based in Washington, D.C. “They’re not interested in something for $1 million; they want something from $2 million to $5 million.”

Why It’s Hard to Borrow
Bankers deny there is a credit crunch, and some insist that small-business lending is their top priority–but nobody is fooled. In fact, there is an overwhelming factor that makes it all but impossible for the neediest companies to borrow: the government’s web of banking regulations. In the wake of the taxpayer-funded bailout of the savings and loan industry, Washington imposed draconian regulations on all individual bankers–in effect, making each of them personally liable if a loan they extend turns sour. read more

How To Handle The IRS Problems

efhIndividuals often face IRS problems whenever they failed to pay it on time and in full. It is a responsibility for every working individual or anyone who has an income to pay the necessary taxes for the welfare of the government. But when tax disputes are encountered, it can be a lot of help to visit the Internal Revenue Service and know how you can settle the payments. Ask the officer how much amount you have to pay and if there are options that you can settle it. Some individuals pay the full tax amount whenever they have received the notice but this is not applicable to those who are experiencing financial hardships. That is why, it is advisable to ask for installment agreements or offer in compromise in order to settle all these IRS problems. read more

For Golf, Working Out Is Paramount

Though I’m sure other fitness trainers — even regular sessions at the local gym — could be effective, I like how the program focuses on becoming fit for golf. As TheraGolf founder Skip Latella tells me, “If you do even 10 minutes a day of flexibility exercises and other aerobic conditioning and some strength training, you can retard the natural aging process. But there’s a difference between being strong and having certain flexi-bility and being specifically fit for golf.”

TheraGolf, Latella says, develops strength, balance and flexibility through a complete range of motion for golf. read more

No Sweat Flexibility??

The results of the Microfiber Reduction technique developed by Bob Prichard of Somax Posture & Sports seem too good to believe. David Leadbetter was so impressed he had his son, Andy, a 14-year-old golf whiz, undergo treatments. “Afterward we asked Andy — who’s normally pretty stiff for a kid — to check the range of motion in his hamstrings by raising his knee to his chest,” Leadbetter tells me. “Well, Andy almost knocked himself out when his kneecap hit his chin. He was that loose.”

Microfiber Reduction, Prichard explains, is a kind of massage that releases scar tissue that forms in the fascia, or connective tissue, between muscles (see illustration). Every muscle is surrounded by this thin membrane — “much like sausage is wrapped in its casing,” is how Prichard puts it. Through injuries, overuse or stress, the connective tissue can form microfibers that prevent it from stretching. So no matter how much flexibility work you do, Prichard says, the muscles won’t be able to stretch and contract fully as long as they’re restricted by the scarred connective tissue. read more

Kickbox Attack!

Biochemically, lactic acid build-up will cause fatigue in the muscles, and unless a proper rest period for its removal is provided, the participant will fatigue prematurely. Without such a proper rest period, the acid cannot be used as an oxidative fuel and may result in either a less-than-optimal workout (in the best-case scenario) or a potential cardiovascular or musculoskeletal incident (in the worst-case scenario). Such fatigue can lead to a breakdown in form and, therefore, potential musculoskeletal damage due to hyperextensions or the lack of ability of the antagonist muscles to decelerate the movement and thereby prevent mechanical injury. read more

Avoiding Red Eyes Is Key To Good Health

areRed eyes, often caused by irritated blood vessels, can result from allergies, smoke, smog, chlorine, lack of sleep, or watching TV for long periods of time. If you have red eyes that are itchy, try not to rub them. Doing so can start an itch-rub cycle: The more you rub, the more your eyes will itch. If red eyes don’t clear up, eye-drops or other medications are available. Ask a parent or a pharmacist for advice.

Conjunctivitis, or pinkeye, is a common eye condition. Symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis include redness, swelling, itching, and a discharge that can be so thick that the eyelids almost stick together. Persons with pinkeye should be seen by a doctor. This very contagious condition can be passed on by contaminated fingers, washcloths, or towels. read more
