The New Culture: Smartphone-Addicted Society

Our society has been around for years and it is our relationship with one another that has helped us build great cities, modern developments, and mind-blowing technologies. We have established certain rules and norms that defined our culture throughout history and is the reason why humanity exists the way it is today. But over the years, we have witnessed a drastic change in human behavior. These changes continue until now where you can see people being more concerned about their virtual lives than their real ones.

Sleep is only one of the biggest things we keep on losing because of our preoccupation with smart technology. Our intense fear of missing out or #FOMO urges us to push our bedtimes further and continue tinkering with our devices until the wee hours of the morning. The thing is, the world won’t come to an end if you can’t respond to a comment or like and share the status or tweet of a person or star you are following. We are living and breathing individuals that have needs far more important than our affinity to tech devices yet we now thrive in a culture where it is acceptable to lose sleep or lose that important “me time” because you are always reachable on your phone or social media. read more

Hurricane Survivors Get Help From Charities

The entire world is aware of how two recent hurricanes left certain US states in a bad shape today. Texas and Florida residents were once again reminded of the power of Mother Nature’s wrath and many are quick to surmise that climate change may have a hand in this. It is not often that Americans experience natural calamities like these two, so it is a major eye opener for many especially the ones who had to go through the ordeal of the storm. The fear caused by the heavy rain and flooding forced people out of their homes with only the most important items in their possession without really knowing when they’ll be able to go home and bounce back. read more

When people talk about America, they often picture it out as the land of greener pastures. And in part, it has been the main motivation for people to go see this part of the world. Many people dream of coming to and living in America because it is the land of milk and honey where you get paid in dollars but they tend to forget that while you earn in dollars, you spend dollars too. Travel Alert For Europe

It seems that terrorists are busy spreading havoc especially in busy European hotspots that it prompted the US government to issue a travel ban to Americans planning to go to Europe anytime soon. This move is actually acceptable compared to the other travel bans issued by the Trump government so far. After all, who aren’t afraid of terrorists, right? They make our spines shiver at the thought of suicide bombers and all the things they are capable of doing that is the stuff of nightmares.

This travel ban makes perfect sense considering that summer is just around the corner in the US and many Americans are probably headed to different parts of the globe for a much-needed summer getaway. These travel warnings are issued when there is a higher risk for citizens to get hurt during their stay in that country. For example, terrorist attacks like the recent one in a Manchester concert, civil war or an unstable government. That’s when the government issues a travel warning, strongly urging their citizens to avoid going to these high-risk areas for the meantime. Meanwhile, a travel alert can also be issued and is often in effect for a short term only unlike travel warnings that can go on for years. read more

Is It Possible To Have Sustainable Transportation For All?

Man has lived as nomads in the beginning of time. Our ancestors lived from one place to another depending on where they can find food and shelter for a while. But as they became more adept at living in this world and more familiar with the different resources around them, they started building homes to be their permanent dwelling. They no longer needed to jump from one place to the other in search of food but only forage for the day and return home before the day ends.

That’s probably the earliest history of how transportation came to be. When man started living in permanent shelters, they only went out for a while and needed to come back home before night falls. That’s the life we live these days. We go from one place to the other in our pursuit of life but we can’t do it on foot like our ancestors did. We ride contraptions of sort albeit not always in style. But because of threats of climate change, we can no longer put off looking for ways to realize a sustainable means of transportation because our planet is hurting more than ever. read more

The French Way Of Life

Saying that the French are passionate people is an understatement. The French culture says it all. They often give their heart and soul in everything they do and they view their government with as much passion too. It’s like a couple madly in love but still adamant in encouraging (forcing) their partners to get rid of their annoying little quirks that drive them nuts.

Like the couple analogy, the French sees their government as an important aspect of their lives and cherish it despite the good and the bad. But the passion they have for their government isn’t just that of a silently observing constituent but more of an aggressive advocate whose patriotism can border to dissent anytime. Unfortunately, the parliament seldom intervenes to hopefully resolve some of these serious arguments between the people and the state. read more

Traveling is a gift that only a few can afford. First of all, you need money – lots of it. It is pretty obvious and self-explanatory. It is also the main reason why many stay and die in their hometowns and not get to travel anywhere at all. Why Politics And Corruption Goes Hand In Hand

“With great power comes great responsibility,” said Spidey. His character may be fictional, but boy he got this one right. You can never fully comprehend how power can get you blinded and mess up your perspectives in life until you are the one in power yourself. Most of the time, these are politicians elected into office by the public through the election process. These political leaders are supposed to protect the people, uphold the common good and manage the affairs of the state in an orderly and fair manner. If only that is always the case.

It is a sad thing to realize that the leaders who you thought will protect your rights and do their job right have other things in mind. Graft and corruption cases are increasingly becoming common because these elected leaders get blinded by the greed for money and power. Only a handful of the elected leaders today really have the best interests of their constituents at heart. Most of them only want to fatten their wallets and bank accounts while still in office. read more

More Terror Attacks In Europe

It was supposed to be a fun night full of music and adoration for a celebrity you have always dreamed of seeing in person, for real. The music is good and the venue is jam-packed. The show has ended and everyone is readying to leave when BANG, a loud explosion fills the place. Then, panic sets in and everyone else scrambles to leave. Sounds like a movie plot, but no, it’s real life.

Terrorists strike in strategic places to capture the attention of the world. They thrive on people’s fear and anger and will likely strike back once the public’s attention has shifted to more trivial things, and away from important societal rights. Over the past decade, we have witnessed increased terrorist activity all over the globe. Despite the focus of many groups, including the European Rail Congress, these terrorists thrive when they are in the spotlight. And once we panic, it means that they have achieved their purpose. read more

Platonic Parents On The Rise

Back then, divorce was a taboo. Families rarely talked about marital disputes that ended marriages and left children broken too. Fast-forward today, divorce is quite common and people are no longer embarrassed to admit to the world that they made a mistake and their marriage is over. For many of these bickering couples, it is better to be lonesome and single once more than being trapped in a loveless and toxic relationship. It’s bad for the kids too to see their parents quarrel all the time. If you failed to see it from that angle.

If there is anything good that comes out of this situation, it’s of mothers and fathers banding together for the sake of their kids. The term “platonic parents” became a thing and in a way, children still have both their parents to love and care for them minus the negative energy that always follows before when they were still constantly fighting one another. read more
